250-hp, 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC VTEC® V-6 Engine
The high-output 3.5-liter, 24-valve VTEC® V-6 engine produces 250 hp and an equally impressive 247 lb-ft of torque, putting the Ridgeline performance on a par with some V-8 trucks. Yet it still has one of the highest-mileage and lowest-emissions ratings in its class[A].
5-Speed Automatic Transmission
The 5-speed automatic transmission was built with heavy-duty truck use in mind. Transmission shift points have been programmed to take full advantage of engine torque, and shift times are quicker for more positive shifts. Plus, a high-capacity automatic-transmission fluid cooler helps ensure greater durability when towing[B].
Variable Torque Management® (VTM-4®) 4-Wheel-Drive System
The VTM-4® system operates automatically. But when you need to start off in extreme low-traction conditions, such as when stopped in mud, on ice or in loose gravel, the VTM-4 Lock® feature lets you manually lock the rear differential to help get you moving. And it will stay manually locked up to 18 mph in both forward and reverse gears.
4-Wheel Independent Suspension
Unlike other trucks with live-axle suspensions, each wheel operates independently of the others and also has a lower unsprung weight. As a result, the Ridgeline operates with superior off-road handling, a composed ride and unmatched stability.
Locking Rear Differential
When the clutches are energized and engaged by the VTM-4® electronic control unit, up to 70% of the engine's power is diverted to the rear wheels so they can work with the front wheels to provide 4-wheel drive.
